A couple years ago, I saw a Facebook post about a camp in America. It looked like the most joyful and amazing place. They represented all kinds of people with unique needs – which I knew nothing about at the time.
After a difficult breakup, I needed some joy, so I reached out to Zeno and booked my tickets to Burlington, Vermont. That fast. My journey began with misplaced luggage and a stop at Walmart to buy all the basic stuff. When I turned up to the camp with my two plastic bags, I was shown to my treehouse – because we get to live in treehouses there. People were clearing their drawers to make some space for me, asking me questions about who I was, what I was doing, where I was living - it was something out of a movie.

Quand j’ai compris que nous allions être confinés à cause du Covid-19, j’ai décidé de rentrer chez mes parents. Je n’avais pas encore saisi la gravité de la situation, les hôpitaux n’étaient pas encore saturés, les morts ne se comptaient pas encore par milliers, la moitié de la planète n’était pas encore immobilisée, on ne croisait pas encore d’animaux sauvages en ville, Boris Johnson et Donald Trump distribuaient encore des poignées de main à tout va. C’était il y a un mois. En un mois, ma vie a changé.

When I understood there was going to be a COVID-19 lockdown, I called my mother to ask if I could move back home. I am 25 and have lived on my own for seven years. This was before I understood the gravity of the situation, before hospitals were flooded, before so many people started dying, before over half of the planet was immobilized, before wild animals were seen strolling down avenues, when Johnson and Trump still happily shook hands with everybody, it was just a month ago.
